1st Battalion - 140th Aviation Regiment (GSAB)

The mission of A Company, 1-140th Aviation, is to mobilize and deploy by air and sea, draw equipment and move to occupy an assembly area; on order, conduct Air Movement and Air Assault Operations; and be prepared to conduct Security and Stability Operations in support of disaster relief, humanitarian assistance, civil disturbance, and counter drug operations.

On D-Day, H-Hour, C-Company mobilizes and deploys by air and sea, draws equipment, and moves to and occupies an assembly area. On order, C Company conducts air movement operations, command and control, combat electronic warfare interception (CEWI), target aquisition, and reconnaissance missions. C Company is tasked with preparing to conduct security and stability operations in support of disaster relief, humanitarian assistance, civil disturbance, and CD operations.

The 1st Battalion, 140th Aviation Regiment, was constituted on 31 July 1987 in the California Army National Guard as the 140th Aviation, a parent regiment under the United States Army Regimental System. It organized on 1 October 1987 from existing units to consist of the 1st Battalion and Companies D, E, and F, elements of the 40th Infantry Division, and Company G.

The unit reorganized on 1 March 1988 to consist of the 1st Battalion and Companies D, E, and F, elements of the 40th Infantry Division, the 3d Battalion, and Company G; and on 1 September 1996 to consist of the 1st Battalion and Company F, elements of the 40th Infantry Division, the 3d Battalion, and Company G.
