The Security Service of Ukraine has prevented a series of new terrorist attacks in Kyiv. As a result of a special operation, an enemy agent who was preparing to blow up cars belonging to servicemen of the Defense Forces has been detained.
On russia's orders, the traitor was planning to destroy three cars belonging to Ukrainian defenders using homemade explosive devices.
The terrorist was supposed to plant explosives under the cars, and russian special services would remotely detonate them along with the military personnel.
The individual in question is an unemployed Kyiv resident, whom the aggressor recruited through a Telegram channel offering 'easy money'.
The occupiers first tested the agent by having him commit several arson attacks in the capital.
After that, the perpetrator received instructions from his handler on how to make IEDs and orders to blow up the cars. He then began looking for the 'right' vehicles.
The SSU documented the agent's crimes and detained him in a rented apartment. At the time of the arrest, the terrorist was setting up remote access for the russians to two phones with IEDs, through which the enemy planned to activate the bombs.
He intended to install another device near the planned attack site to record the crime in real time.
SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 14.1, 258.2 of the CCU (preparation of a terrorist act, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy).
He is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The suspect is currently cooperating with the investigation and providing incriminating testimony about his russian handlers.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
