TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iranian Supreme Court annulled Amir Mirza Hekmati's death sentence.

Iran's Judiciary Spokesman Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei said in a press conference, "There was an objection to the ruling in the Supreme Court and the court found fault with it and sent it to another branch with same level of authority."

Amir Mirza Hekmati (born 1983) is a United States citizen who was arrested for spying for the CIA in Iran. On January 9, 2012, he was sentenced to death by Iranian intelligent ministry.

Hekmati confessed to his crimes and claimed to be deceived and did not mean to damage Iran.
