Jun 14, 2004
Eurosatory - Paris, June 2004 - Israel Aircraft Industries' Malat Division is to display its new micro unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Mosquito 1.5, as well as new models of the Bird Eye 100 (formerly "Birdy") and Bird Eye 500 (formerly "Spy There") mini UAVs at Eurosatory June 14-18, 2004.
Malat Division's micro and mini UAV family are a groundbreaking series of aircraft designed for tactical reconnaissance. The UAVs are operated by one or two soldiers in support of small fighting units and operate autonomously once launched. All models use digital map referencing and are fully automated with "in flight" way point control.
Micro UAV
Mosquito 1.5 is an easy-to-operate hand launched UAV carried by one solider and fully operable in minutes. Missions are planned using digital map referencing and viewed on a computer monitor. Mosquito is electrically powered with a one-hour flight time. Typical operational area is 1Km by 1Km. Weight at take-off is 500 grams (1.1 Lb); wingspan of
34 cm (1.3 ft).
Mini UAV
Bird Eye 100 is an easy-to-operate, hand or bungee launched UAV, carried by one soldier and fully operable in minutes. Missions are planned using digital map referencing and viewed on a computer monitor. Bird Eye 100is electrically powered with a one-hour flight time. Typical operational is 5 km by 5 Km (3.10 Mile). Weight at take-off is 1.3 kg
(2.87 Lb); wingspan of 85 cm (2.78 ft) and 80 cm (2.62 ft) in length.
Bird Eye 500 is packed into two carriers and can be operated by two soldiers. The UAV is easily assembled and flight ready in minutes. Missions are planned using digital map referencing and viewed on a computer monitor. Bird Eye 500 is electrically operated with a low acoustic signature and one-hour flight time. Typical operational is 10 km by 10 Km (6.21 Mile).Weight at take-off is 5 kg (11.02 Lb); wingspan of 2 meters (6.56 Ft) and 1.6 meters (5.24 ft) in length.
IAI's Malat Division is one of the worlds leading UAV system design and manufacturing firms. Its UAV?s are now operating in fifteen countries with twenty customers and have accumulated more than 160,000 flight hours.
