RAF Lossiemouth
Lossiemouth became HMS Fulmar of the Royal Navy at the end of the Second World War until the RAF took over the Station again in 1972. Aside from the Shackleton AEW2s of No 8 Squadron, the Station also housed Jaguar and Buccaneer units, the latter in the maritime strike/attack role. This role is continued today as Lossiemouth is now home to Nos 12 and 617 Squadrons, both equipped with 13 Tornado GR1Bs, the version of the Tornado capable of carrying the Sea Eagle anti-shipping missile. Also based on the airfield are the 22 Tornado GR1s of No 15 (Reserve) Squadron, the Tornado Weapons Conversion Unit, and the 10 Jaguar GR1As and T2As of No 16 (Reserve) Squadron, the Jaguar Operational Conversion Unit. "D" Flight of No 202 Squadron, operating 2 Sea King HAR3 helicopters provide both a Search and Rescue and a Mountain Rescue facility from the Station.
