According to an interview with Hassan Rowhani published in the French newspaper Le Monde on February 25, 2005 Iran may be concealing portions of its nuclear weapons program in secret tunnels. Rowhani, who represents Iran in negotiations with Germany, Britain and France over his country's nuclear program, stated that the tunnels were necessary to protect the program from foreign attack. He was quoted as saying, "From the moment the Americans threaten to attack our nuclear sites, what are we to do? We have to put them somehwere."
