Bushehr - Cooling Water Channel and Harbor

Located South of the reactor facilities, this concrete channel was used to expell water from the reactors and the sewer system to the Gulf. In the German design circulating water was supplied through intake culverts and mechanical purification plants to the pumps and then was discharged by them to the condensers. Each unit at the Biblis facility in Germany had a concrete culvert in which water flowed back to its source (the Rhine) and a weir was present for the addition of oxygen. Water appeared to be present in the ditch in the 1996 2-meter Spin image and the Ikonos imagery appears to show evidence of water having been present reletively recently.

To the right of the channel was the larger of two small harbors located at the Bushehr site. Three unidentified missile patrol boats were docked on the south quay.
