Obama looks forward to Medvedev's visit - White House
05:18 22/06/2010 WASHINGTON, June 22 (RIA Novosti) - U.S. President Barack Obama is looking forward to the visit by his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev and is making preparations for the forthcoming talks, White House spokesman Bill Burton has said.
"We have a very strong relationship as it relates to a wide variety of issues," Burton told reporters in Washington on the eve of Medvedev's arrival.
"We have done some important work as it relates to the new START Treaty, North Korea, Iran, a whole host of issues -- not the least of which is the strengthening of economic ties between the countries. So we imagine that they'll talk about a whole range of issues, and we really look forward to having President Medvedev here," he said.
Burton said Obama had been meeting with his advisors and "talking to the appropriate people" at the White House ahead of "such an important visit."
On Monday, Kremlin aid Sergei Prikhodko said a total of 10 documents were expected to be signed during Medvedev's visit to the United States, including several joint declarations by the Russian and U.S. presidents.
He said Medvedev and Obama would discuss Russia's accession to the WTO, the ratification of the new arms cuts treaty, signed in Prague on April 8, and nuclear non-proliferation, as well as key international and regional issues on Thursday.
