ATK Awarded Contracts Totaling $71.5 Million for Trident II D5 Missile Propulsion Systems

MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ATK (Alliant Techsystems) (NYSE:ATK) said it has been awarded contracts with a total value of $71.5 million from Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company - Sunnyvale, Calif. to produce solid propulsion systems for all three stages of the U.S. Navy's Trident II D5 Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM).

Under these contracts, ATK Thiokol Propulsion, Promontory, Utah, will continue production of Trident II D5 propulsion systems through 2007. Work will be performed at the company's manufacturing facilities in Promontory, Clearfield, and Magna, Utah.

Trident II D5 is the only U.S. submarine-launched strategic ballistic missile system in production today.
