TEXT: GALLUCCI IS NEW U.S. SPECIAL ENVOY FOR NONPROLIFERATION
(To deal with missiles and weapons of mass destruction) (160) Washington -- The State Department announced February 27 that Robert L. Gallucci will succeed Frank G. Wisner as special envoy to deal with concerns with respect to proliferation of missiles and weapons of mass destruction. Following is the State Department text: (begin text) U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE Office of the Spokesman February 27, 1998 STATEMENT BY JAMES P. RUBIN, SPOKESMAN SPECIAL ENVOY ON NONPROLIFERATION Robert L. Gallucci will succeed Frank G. Wisner as special envoy to deal with concerns with respect to proliferation of missiles and weapons of mass destruction. Ambassador Gallucci served as Ambassador at Large until his retirement in April 1996 when he took up his current position as Dean of the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Ambassador Wisner retired from the Foreign Service in August 1997, and is Vice Chairman-External Affairs of the American International Group, Inc. (end text)
