The Security Service of Ukraine has documented new crimes committed by Konstantin Prostov, a judge of the Southern district military court of russia.

The investigation established that in August and November 2024, he illegally sentenced another two captured soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine to prison terms.

According to the judge's fabricated decisions, the prisoners of war were sentenced to 18 years in a strict regime colony.

Both Ukrainian defenders were members of the 12th Special Forces Brigade of the National Guard, which defended Mariupol from the first days of the full-scale war.

This is the second documented case in which Prostov has staged a show trial on trumped-up charges against captured defenders of Ukraine.

For this, in June this year, the judge received his first in absentia notice of suspicion for war crimes from Security Service investigators. At that time, he imposed similar 'sentences' on two other National Guard servicemen.

Now, Prostov has again violated international law, according to which the victims are combatants in an armed conflict.

If captured, such persons acquire the status of prisoners of war and are not subject to imprisonment for participating in combat.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified Prostov in absentia of a new suspicion under Article 438.1 of the CCU (war crimes, in particular violations of Articles 129 and 130 of the Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War of 12 August 1949).

Since the russian war criminal is on the territory of the aggressor state, efforts to bring him to justice are underway.

The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office.
