Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with NATO Senior Representative in Ukraine Patrick Turner.
The Minister expressed gratitude to NATO member states and leadership for their solidarity and assistance, particularly for launching the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) mechanism with the United States. According to Denys Shmyhal, the initiative has proven effective, with allies funding USD 2 billion worth of American weapons for Ukraine.
"We discussed long-term support for Ukraine under PURL. Engaging new participants and increasing contributions are vital for securing American weaponry for our Defence Forces," stated the Defence Minister.
The parties also explored other ways to address Ukraine's priority defence needs.
"By the end of the year, our country needs approximately USD 6 billion for critical unmanned weaponry: FPV drones, interceptor drones, long-range drones, and missiles. I stressed the importance of supporting Ukrainian manufacturers through the Build in Ukraine and Build with Ukraine programmes. We have robust industrial cooperation with NATO countries and significant potential for its growth," Denys Shmyhal remarked.
Additionally, the talks covered establishing effective security guarantees with the Coalition of the Willing, including measures to ensure lasting peace and prevent further russian aggression.
