The team of the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police, and the Office of the Prosecutor General believes that russian special services may be involved in the organization of the murder of People's Deputy Andriy Parubiy. The law enforcement obtained this information during initial investigative and operational measures with the detained killer.
'The crime has signs of a contract killing. There is intelligence indicating possible involvement of russia's special services in organizing the murder. We are working with our law enforcement colleagues to identify all those involved in this brazen crime, confirm the sources of information and gather evidence,' said Vadym Onyshchenko, Head of the SSU Office in Lviv region.
On the night of September 1, the SSU, the National Police and the Prosecutor's Office detained a man suspected of murdering MP Andriy Parubiy. Thanks to coordinated actions, the law enforcement tracked down the suspect within 24 hours of the attack and detained him within 36 hours.
The perpetrator's actions are classified under two Articles of the CCU: 115.1 (intentional murder) and 263.1 (illegal handling of weapons).
The investigation and detention were personally supervised by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
The investigation is ongoing.
