In Zaporizhzhia, the Security Service and National Police have dismantled a large-scale scheme for evading mobilization. The organizers sold fake medical certificates stating that 'the men's relatives had disability', which the draft evaders used to obtain a deferral from conscription.

The scheme was organized by a local lawyer together with her husband, brother and his wife, who were also lawyers.

During the search of the suspects and their accomplices, UAH 4.7 million was found, as well as 641,000 russian rubles.

The perpetrators worked in one office and enlisted the help of several doctors they knew. For money, they unjustifiably assigned disability status to the relatives of the draft dodgers.

The finished fakes were then submitted to local authorities. There, personal connections were used to obtain fictitious conclusions about the need to supervise 'persons with disabilities'.

After collecting all the 'signatures', the fraudsters sold the entire package to draft evaders for USD 5 500 per a 'client'.

The law enforcement agencies documented the crime and detained the organizer.

She has been notified of suspicion under Article 369-2.3 of the CCU (accepting a proposal, promise or receiving unlawful benefits for oneself or a third party for influencing the decision-making of a person authorized to perform state or local government functions, combined with demanding such benefits).

The investigation is ongoing to bring all those involved to justice. The organizers of the scheme face up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office.
