
Ministers of Defence of Ukraine and Romania agree to enhance coordination between air forces

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Romanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Liviu-Ionuț Moșteanu in Kyiv.
The head of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine thanked the Romanian Government, its people, and Liviu-Ionuț Moșteanu personally for their effective cooperation and strong support. Denys Shmyhal noted that Romania provides assistance to Ukraine across several key areas.
Romania has already delivered 22 military aid packages to Ukraine, with the 23rd expected to reach Ukrainian forces soon.
"Romania continues to train Ukrainian F-16 pilots and makes other significant contributions to the formation of our air defence shield. We have agreed to strengthen coordination between our air defence forces," said Denys Shmyhal.
The delegations also focused on the development of industrial cooperation. The priority is the production of interceptor drones, FPV drones and long-range unmanned aerial vehicles.
"We discussed the possibility of using the SAFE mechanism to launch joint projects for technology exchange and the launch of Ukrainian production in Romania. Another important topic is Romania's participation in the PURL initiative, which provides Ukrainian soldiers with American weapons," added the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
In addition, during the meeting, intelligence representatives provided partners with detailed information about the security situation and russia's plans. Both sides jointly analysed the challenges posed by Russian aggression to Ukraine and Romania.
