President of Ukraine
11 August 2025 - 20:41
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone conversation with President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda to agree on a joint position and coordinate the next steps.
The Head of State informed Gitanas Nausėda about contacts with partners and joint diplomatic efforts.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Lithuania, all Nordic countries and countries of the Baltic region for the declaration they adopted the day before. It reaffirms support for Ukraine's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, as well as readiness to make diplomatic efforts, continue providing assistance to our country, and strengthen sanctions against Russia.
The Presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania share the same position: first - a ceasefire, and then - the search for a diplomatic solution that will make it possible to end the war with a just and lasting peace. Without clear security guarantees, any other arrangements will only give Russia an opportunity to rebuild its forces.
The leaders discussed the situation on the battlefield and the needs of the Ukrainian army. Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Lithuania for its contribution to supplying Patriot systems to Ukraine.
Separately, the Presidents discussed the negotiation process on Ukraine's accession to the European Union. Gitanas Nausėda reaffirmed his support for Ukraine's EU membership and emphasized that he fully shares the position that Ukraine and Moldova should move towards EU membership in a synchronized and simultaneous manner.
The leaders agreed to remain in contact. Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited the President of Lithuania to visit Ukraine.
