The Security Service and National Police have dismantled new schemes for evading mobilization in western, northern and central Ukraine. Seven organizers have been apprehended.
For USD 5 000 to 11 000, they helped conscripts evade service.
In Zakarpattia, a Kyiv resident was detained. For money, he drove draft dodgers to the western border under the guise of emergency medical patients.
To do this, he equipped his minibus with special signals and 'ambulance' stickers.
While transporting his 'clients', the man also turned on flashing lights in an attempt to pass through checkpoints unhindered.
A 58-year-old repeat offender, previously convicted of robbery, was detained in Rakhiv district for 'advising' conscripts on escape routes to the EU.
One of the options involved crossing water obstacles, in particular the border areas of the Tisa River.
In Cherkasy region, a resident of Zvenyhorod district was arrested for selling to draft dodgers fake disability certificates for their children so they could leave Ukraine unhindered.
The individual used his personal connections among local doctors to obtain the forged medical documents.
In Chernihiv region, four residents of Pryluky were caught. They published the locations of the Defense Forces, including mobile checkpoints of Territorial Recruitment Centers, in messenger apps.
All those detained have been notified of suspicion under several Articles of the CCU, according to the crimes committed:
- 332.3 (illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine);
- 114-1.1 (obstruction of lawful activities of the AFU, during a special period);
- 369-2.3 (abuse of influence).
The suspects are in custody and face up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The operations were carried out by the SSU regional offices in cooperation with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Offices.
