The Verkhovna Rada has passed a critically important decision, amending the state budget to allocate an additional UAH 412 billion to the defence and security sector.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko emphasised that this vote is a timely response to the new reality of full-scale war.
"Following yet another massive russian attack, the vote in Verkhovna Rada to increase defence spending is particularly significant. It is a response to the escalation of russian strikes on our cities and villages," she stated.
The approved changes provide funding for the following priorities:
- Procurement of weapons, drones, and ammunition;
- Financial support for military personnel;
- Payments to the families of fallen and wounded soldiers;
- Expansion of domestic defence production.
"We will continue to ramp up our own weapons production, and contracts must be fulfilled in full. We are directing both domestic funding and resources from partners towards this," Yulia Svyrydenko underscored.
She also expressed gratitude to the Parliament for its decisive action: "I thank Parliament for its swift and coordinated decision."
This vote stands as evidence of the unity between the Government and the people in supporting Ukrainian soldiers and strengthening the country's defence capabilities amid intensifying hostilities.
