SACEUR on support for Ukraine: We are moving as quickly as we can

Recently, General Alexus G. Grynkewich, the 21st Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), paid one of his first official visits since taking office to the NATO Security Assistance & Training for Ukraine (NSATU) headquarters. Based at Clay Kaserne in Wiesbaden, Germany, NSATU leads NATO's coordination of training, equipment support & logistics, and force development support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other Ukrainian partners.

NSATU Commander, Lieutenant General Curtis Buzzard, welcomed SACEUR alongside the leadership team of the headquarters. Today, NSATU includes over 300 personnel from 28 NATO nations, with additional contributions from Australia and New Zealand, working closely with representatives of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

During his visit, General Grynkewich received in-depth briefings on NSATU's core activities, including the work of the Logistics Enabling Node-Poland (LEN-P). This critical node currently manages the reception and onward movement of approximately 18,000 tons of donated military material per month, ensuring sustained support for Ukraine's defense.

Earlier at the Association of the U.S. Army's LANDEURO symposium at the RheinMain Conference Center elsewhere in Wiesbaden, SACEUR noted "war persists on our doorstep."

He said time is therefore of the essence, both in terms of delivery the capabilities Allies agreed to at the NATO Summit in The Hague and on delivering needed support to Ukraine.

When asked about recent plans by the U.S. and NATO to get Ukraine additional air defences and other military aid, SACEUR told those at the symposium NATO was focused on delivering these needed capabilities fast.

"We're going to move as quickly as we can on this," he said.
