The Security Service of Ukraine operates exclusively within the framework of the current legislation and makes every effort to ensure equality of all before the law in Ukraine.

This was stated by the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk, during a briefing, commenting on the joint operation of the SSU and PGO to neutralize russian influence on the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.

"SAPO and NABU have not been liquidated, these structures remain and continue to work. I respect the detectives and the Bureau's management, but the cleansing that this structure is undergoing is a positive development. I am confident that they will be able to take the necessary measures, and we will help them to avoid further criminal acts. There are no exceptions for us, and we will continue to eradicate hostile influence wherever we can," said Vasyl Maliuk.

He also added that Draft Law No. 12414, adopted the day before by the Verkhovna Rada, will help to avoid duplication of functions in the prosecution system.

"We live in a state governed by the rule of law. There is a basic law - the Constitution. According to the Constitution, there is only one Prosecutor General in our country. There can be no duplication in this issue," the SSU Head said.

According to the Head of the Service, the SSU and NABU have conducted many successful joint operations to expose corrupt officials and the two agencies should continue to cooperate in this area.

"I seek unity in the country, so that everyone becomes united and thinks how to fight the enemy, and does not 'contact' with imprisoned oligarchs. We had full cooperation with both the previous and current heads of the Bureau. We have hundreds of joint cases. These included cases against serious criminals: corrupt MPs, deputy ministers, and court presidents. This is a whole pool of unique activities. They will be further investigated, there will be other investigative actions, questionings, and I am sure that the NABU leadership will deal with this situation together with us," summarized Vasyl Maliuk.
