In Dnipro, the SSU Counterintelligence apprehended an agent of russia's military intelligence ('the GRU') who was preparing coordinates for the aggressor's air strikes on Ukraine's critical infrastructure.

According to the investigation, the enemy strikes were adjusted by a 54-year-old fitter from a local construction company.

He came to the attention of the occupiers when he tried to purchase fake documents online to travel abroad posing as a foreigner.

After recruitment, the agent collected geolocation data for his handler on power plants that supply electricity to the most of residential areas in Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia.

To gather intelligence, the asset used his position at a construction company involved in restoring Ukrainian energy facilities after enemy attacks.

While carrying out his work contracts, the traitor recorded the technical condition of potential targets and photographed their appearance, geolocating them on Google Maps.

While at the repair site, the agent sent the relevant information to his handler, thereby adjusting repeated russian strikes on the energy infrastructure of cities.

For secrecy, he used several phones, which he periodically changed and kept at his relative's house.

The SSU identified the enemy agent and detained him at his home.

SSU investigators notified the detained individual of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor's Office.
