Asked to comment on the EU's inclusion of Chinese enterprises in the list of its 17th round of sanctions against Russia, a spokesperson for the Chinese Mission to the EU said on Thursday that China always opposes unilateral sanctions that lack a basis in international law and are not authorized by the UN Security Council.
The spokesperson also expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to the EU's unjust sanctions against Chinese companies and have lodged solemn representations with the EU, according to a statement on the mission's website.
On the Ukraine issue, China has always been committed to promoting peace and dialogue, has never provided lethal weapons to the parties in conflict, and strictly controls the export of dual-use items, the spokesperson noted.
China urges the EU to immediately cease its double standards in the issue regarding economic and trade cooperation with Russia and to stop undermining the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies, the spokesperson said, adding that China will take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
