Ukraine: Switzerland amends Ordinance on Measures against the Islamic Republic of Iran

Bern, 02.04.2025 -- On 2 April the Federal Council decided to amend the Ordinance on Measures against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The measures will enter into force on 3 April.
On 2 April the Federal Council decided to amend the Ordinance on Measures against the Islamic Republic of Iran following the EU's recent decisions in light of Iran's continued military support for Russia. In this context, measures were introduced to further restrict Russia's access to sensitive goods that could potentially be used in the military aggression against Ukraine.
The Federal Council adopted further sanctions against Iran on 29 September 2023 in connection with the supply of Iranian drones to Russia. In so doing it aligned with the European Union, which issued the measures as part of a new sanctions regime in response to Iran's military support in violation of international law for Russia's military aggression
