
Lithuania joins Ukraine Compact

Lithuania is joining the Ukraine Compact by endorsing a bilateral security agreement and arrangement with Ukraine. Lithuania has prior commitment to the span of 10 years of assistance for Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the form of military aid, training, support to Ukraine's defence industry.
Signatories of the Compact commit to contributing to the implementation of Ukraine's defence reforms by assisting the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine to develop deterrence and defence capabilities. Ukraine Compact is not a substitutive for EU or NATO membership but it does provide security guarantees until Ukraine joints both of the organisations. I
Lithuania continues and will continue rendering assistance to Ukraine in bilateral and multilateral formats alike, including the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG), the Lithuanian-led and Icelandic-led Ukraine Demining Coalition, NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine and EUMAM.
