Gitanas Nausėda congratulated the President of Ukraine on the opening of EU accession negotiations

President Gitanas Nausėda spoke by telephone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday following the European Council meeting in Brussels.
The Lithuanian leader congratulated the President of Ukraine and all Ukrainian people on a historic event—the opening of negotiations on EU membership. Gitanas Nausėda stressed that this decision is a victory not only for Ukraine, but also for all Europe.
"Lithuania fully supports Ukraine's integration into the European family and your brave fight for freedom and the future of your country. We will continue to consistently support you," President Gitanas Nausėda spoke.
On Thursday evening in Brussels, EU leaders agreed to launch EU membership negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova, and to grant EU candidate country status to Georgia.
