November 14, Vice Minister of National Defence Žilvinas Tomkus attends the Foreign Affairs Council (Defence) of the European Union in Brussels.

The EU Defence Ministers meet to discuss the EU military assistance to Ukraine. The EU has set a goal to supply Ukraine with 1 million pieces of 155 mm ammunition over 12 months and considers forming a EUR 20 billion Ukraine Support Fund in the European Peace Facility framework.

"The European Union must sustain the support to Ukraine. One of the key things to do is agreeing on the resources for the Ukraine Support Fund which would ensure a stable and long-term military assistance. And we have to deliver the one million ammunition rounds to Ukraine as soon as possible," underscored Žilvinas Tomkus at the meeting.

According to Defence Vice Minister, the security challenges popping up in different regions must not slow down the supply of assistance to Ukraine. It is also critical to accelerate development of the EU Rapid Deployment Capacity, a EU Strategic Compass deliverable.

Vice Minister once again invited the members states to join the demining coalition for Ukraine Lithuania organized. The invitation is currently considered by 19 member states and has been approved by Denmark, Spain, Iceland, Kosovo, Moldova, Hungary, Germany and Sweden.
