Presidency Of The Republic Of Turkey

Speaking at a gathering with AK Party provincial heads, President Erdoğan said: "It has been decided to extend the Black Sea Grain Corridor Agreement for another two months with the efforts of our country, our Russian friends' support and our Ukrainian friends' contributions."

President and Justice and Development (AK) Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed via video conference a gathering of the party's provincial heads, MPs, mayors, and candidates for MPs.

Touching upon the Russia-Ukraine war and the Black Sea Grain Corridor Agreement in his speech, President Erdoğan said: "The agreement -- signed in Istanbul on July 22, 2022 as a result of Türkiye's initiative, the constructive roles of Russia and Ukraine, and the facilitating role of the United Nations -- had already been extended for several times. The last extension was about to expire. Yet, it has been decided to extend the Black Sea Grain Corridor Agreement for another two months with the efforts of our country, our Russian friends' support and our Ukrainian friends' contributions. I hope that this decision, which is of vital importance in terms of ensuring that global food supply chains function uninterruptedly and countries in need have easier access to grains, may be auspicious for all sides. We will continue our efforts to make sure all terms of the agreement are fulfilled and the agreement holds in the upcoming period as well."

"In addition, our Russian friends stated that they will not prevent the exit of Turkish ships from Mykolaiv and Olvia ports. We are grateful to them for this," the President stressed, and added: "We hope that we will see the days when the war between Russia and Ukraine ends, first with a permanent ceasefire and then with peace."

Thanking President Vladimir Putin of Russia for his sincere contributions and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine for his constructive cooperation in prolonging the deal, President Erdoğan also offered his gratitude to UN Secretary-General António Guterres for his efforts.
