On 24 April in Luxembourg, Lithuania's Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis attended the EU's Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg, which focused on Russia's aggression against Ukraine and the EU action plan on the geopolitical consequences of the Russian war of aggression.
"We don't have to guess when Ukraine's counter-attack will or will not happen. All we have to do now is to commit and pursue Ukraine's victory," Landsbergis said.
Ministers also exchanged views on Russia's accountability and the EU's sanctions against Russia.
"Some time ago, Lithuania provided a wide menu of sanctions targeting Rosatom. I am delighted that this Council is discussing it again. But it is time even for countries bound by agreements with Rosatom to take joint action," the head of Lithuania's diplomacy reminded his EU counterparts.
Ministers also discussed the EU's support for Moldova, the situation in Tunisia and Sudan, and statements by a Chinese representative on the sovereignty of Ukraine and other countries.
Together with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland, Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir, ministers discussed preparations for the Council of Europe in Reykjavik, and with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili — regional security issues, the country's domestic situation and European aspirations.
