
Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď signs intergovernmental agreement with Ukraine

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď and Ambassador of Ukraine to Slovakia His Excellency Mr Myroslav Kastran have signed an intergovernmental agreement the subject matter of which is the donation to Kyiv of 13 MiG-29 fighter jets and two 2K12 "Kub" (NATO reporting name: SA-6 "Gainful") mobile surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems along with the engagement control system, spares, and missiles.
In his statement, Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: "The situation in which Ukraine finds itself requires real-time solutions. Today, Slovakia is sending out a clear signal that we stand on the right side of history. The human life has the highest value, which is why I trust the Slovak equipment will help save as many lives as can possibly be saved."
Formally titled the Agreement between the Government of the Slovak Republic and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine concerning the Donation of Military Equipment, the agreement, which aligns with Slovak foreign policy interests, has been drafted in accordance with the legal regulations of the Slovak Republic, the general binding principles of international law, and the Slovak Republic's commitments arising out of international documents.
