Russian aggression must stop, Assembly urges
Council of Europe
Parliamentary Assembly Session
Strasbourg
27 April 2022
Russia must immediately and unconditionally cease aggression against Ukraine, andthe international community must unite to defend the democratic world order, PACE has urged.
Voting on a report by Frank Schwabe (Germany, SOC), the Assembly warned that a new dividing line was back on the map of Europe, with Russia's actions provoking the direst humanitarian crisis in Europe since the Second World War, challenging global governance, and prompting a steep rise in energy costs and food insecurity.
The Assembly expressed alarm at mounting evidence of atrocities and backed all efforts aimed at investigating violations of international human rights and international humanitarian law.
