Total of Six Kiev Soldiers Killed in South of Donetsk People's Republic – DPR
DPR operational command said that Ukrainian forces lost at least six people when trying to enter the "gray zone" in the south of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic.
DONETSK (Sputnik) – Ukrainian forces lost at least six people when trying to enter the "gray zone" in the south of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) near Kominternove (Pikuzy) village, a representative of DPR operational command said Tuesday.
"At 21.00 [15.00 GMT on Tuesday] and 21.10 [15.10 GMT], two sabotage-reconnaissance groups of the enemy, numbering ten each, attempted to move into the "gray zone"… After suffering losses in the amount of six people, Ukrainian saboteurs were forced to retreat under cover of fire from automatic grenade launchers and mortars, conducted from the positions of the 59th separate mechanized infantry brigade of the armed forces of Ukraine,"
On June 21, a trilateral contact group, composed of Russian, Ukrainian and Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) mediators, agreed to impose a ceasefire in Ukraine's eastern regions during the summer harvest, which would last from June 24 to August 31. This truce is another attempt to force warring parties to lay down the arms and allow peace to resume in the Donbas region, which has been torn apart by several years of fighting.
