Russian Prime Minister Dmintry Medvedev called the recently prevented terrorist attacks in Crimea "a crime committed against the Russian state and the people of Russia living on one of the territories belonging to the Russian Federation."

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The recently prevented terrorist attacks in Crimea are a crime against the Russian state and people, Russian Prime Minister Dmintry Medvedev said Friday.

"In my opinion, this is, certainly, a crime committed against the Russian state and the people of Russia living on one of the territories belonging to the Russian Federation – the territory of the Crimean peninsula," Medvedev told reporters.

"The investigation is underway, you are getting all the information on the matter, which is quite a lot. I can only express regret once again…that this sort of activity is approved by the leadership of a country that is close to us, despite the fact that we currently have complicated relations. This is very unfortunate both for our country, and especially for the people of Ukraine, who are being distracted from domestic problems through such terrorist acts," the prime minister continued.

Addressing the possibility of Russia ceasing diplomatic relations with Ukraine following the incident, Medvedev stated that while he "wouldn't want the situation to end like that," such a decision could be made by the Russian president if there no other options remain.
