Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko views the Minsk agreement, designed to resolve the crisis in the country, as highly fragile.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko considers the Minsk agreement inefficient.
'The truth is that the agreement does not work,' Poroshenko told the German newspaper "Das Bild".
Minsk was 'for us hope, not reality,' he said. 'They say they withdraw their weapons, but they give the OSCE no access to control it," he added.
Poroshenko also suggested that Western countries should increase sanctions against Russia.
'There must be a reaction on the breach of the ceasefire. There can be further sanctions – in any case, the current sanctions should be extended until the end of the year,' the Ukrainian President said.
Poroshenko also called on Western countries to boycott the World Cup 2018 in Russia, saying that the latter had no right to host the sporting event, taking into account the recent developments in Ukraine.
In April 2014, Ukrainian authorities started a military operation in southeastern regions of Ukraine. According to the latest UN data, the conflict claimed lives of about 6,000 people.
