The US Department of the Treasury announced sanctions against 14 individuals and two entities over involvement in Ukrainian crisis.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The US Department of the Treasury said Wednesday it has added 14 individuals and two entities to its list of individual sanction over Ukraine.

New additions to the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List include former First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Arbuzov, former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov, and security chief of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Alexander Khodakovsky.

According to the latest SDN list update posted on the US Treasury website, the following entities have been added to the list: Russia's Eurasian Youth Union and Russian National Commercial Bank.

Officials and militia leaders in eastern Ukraine have been subject to rounds of individual sanctions following independence referendums in Ukraine's two breakaway regions, Luhansk and Donetsk, in May 2014. The restrictions include asset freezes and travel bans.

The addition comes on the heels of a February EU decision to add more people in the government of the DPR and Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) to its sanctions list.

The EU and US lists also include Russian lawmakers and government officials who are accused of facilitating Crimea's March 2014 reunification with Russia and Moscow's alleged role in the Ukraine crisis. In addition, dozens of Russian companies and banks had their assets frozen by a July 2014 US Treasury executive order.
