No agreements have been reached yet during reconciliation talks between Kiev and Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), according to a DPR Defense Ministry representative.
DONETSK, December 29 (Sputnik) – Representatives from Kiev and the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) met in Donetsk for talks but no agreement was reached, a DPR Defense Ministry representative said Monday.
"Three issues were discussed: ceasefire, pull-back of heavy artillery, and [prisoner] exchanges. No agreements have been reached yet," the representative said during a briefing.
Another meeting between the two sides is scheduled for December 31, during which "some sort of results" may be achieved, he added.
Earlier on Monday, DPR human rights ombudsman Darya Morozova said that a prisoner exchange between Kiev and Donetsk would take place later in the day.
Meanwhile, a new detainee swap between the neighboring Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) and Kiev is expected to be announced in the next few days.
The warring sides reached a ceasefire deal in Minsk in early September, brokered by Russia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and later signed a memorandum specifying its implementation. The agreement stipulates the withdrawal of artillery, and the creation of a 30-kilometer buffer zone and an 'all-for-all' exchange of prisoners.
Despite numerous reports of ceasefire violations on both sides, Kiev-led forces and eastern Ukrainian militia have carried out several prisoner swaps, the most recent taking place on Friday.
