Self-proclaimed Ukrainian people's republic of Luhansk was not invited to reconciliation talks in Minsk on December 24.
LUHANSK, December 23 (Sputnik) – The chief negotiator of the self-proclaimed Ukrainian people's republic of Luhansk (LPR) said Tuesday that he was not invited to the reconciliation talks in Minsk on December 24, but will travel to Belarus 'to prevent the talks from disruption.'
'I'm headed there, but there was no official invitation,' Vladislav Deinego told RIA Novosti.
'[The agenda] has been tentatively agreed, but received no final approval. I think we will decide [on it] there, on the spot,' he said.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Belarus Foreign Ministry confirmed that another round of talks on settling the Ukrainian crisis is scheduled for December 24 in Minsk.
On Monday, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France had agreed to arrange fresh meetings of the so-called Contact Group on Ukraine on December 24 and 26.
The Contact Group on Ukraine, comprising representatives of Kiev, DPR and LPR, Russia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), has already met in Minsk on September 5 and September 19.
The talks resulted in a ceasefire agreement between the warring sides of the conflict. They have, however, repeatedly accused each other of violating the truce since the deal was reached.
