DONETSK, December 12 (Sputnik) – Another batch of Russian humanitarian aid, the ninth of its kind since August, has arrived in the east Ukrainian self-proclaimed Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk on Friday.

Split into two groups, the first part of the 50 truck convoy has arrived in the capital of the east Ukrainian self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), a RIA Novosti correspondent embedded with the convoy said. The 400 tons of humanitarian aid is currently being unloaded.

Another part comprising more than 80 trucks arrived in Luhansk, the capital of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), Russia's Emergencies Ministry's press service informed RIA Novosti.

'Over 80 trucks have successfully arrived in Luhansk. The cargo consists of 800 tons of humanitarian aid, including food and equipment essential for social facilities,' the press service said.

Russia plans to send another humanitarian aid convoy ahead of the holidays to deliver New Year's gifts to children living in the eastern regions of Ukraine.

Since mid-August, nine Russian convoys have delivered more than 10,700 tons of aid to the DPR and LPR. Both breakaway republics are suffering from a severe humanitarian crisis following the launch of Kiev's military operations in the region. The convoys have delivered food, water, power generators, medication and winter supplies to residents
