Donetsk militia claims to have destroyed Ukraine army roadblock between Slovyansk, Kramatorsk
10 June 2014, 13:56 -- A militia commander from the self-proclaimed 'Donetsk People's Republic', Igor Strelkov, has claimed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' roadblock between the cities of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk was destroyed.
'A roadblock that was obstructing communication between Slovyansk and Kramatorsk has been destroyed. The operation was carried out by special operations units of the militia of the Donetsk People's Republic with the support of mine-clearing engineer vehicles. Snipers eliminated seven Ukrainian servicemen, at least 14 were trapped in the trenches by the mine-clearing engineer vehicles, and another 30-35 were injured,' Strelkov said on his Facebook account on Tuesday.
One militiaman was killed, he said. For his part, Vladislav Seleznyov, spokesman for the military operation in the southeast of Ukraine, said that two Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers were injured as local militiamen tried to break through army lines outside of the city of Slavyansk.
'Militants continue their attempts to break through the encirclement near the city of Slavyansk. Two Ukrainian servicemen were injured as a result of the latest attack on the positions of 'anti-terrorist' operation units using small arms and grenade launchers,' Seleznyov said on his Facebook account on Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, an attack by self-defenase forces was repelled near another roadblock manned by Ukrainian soldiers. 'Some ten militants tried to break through the encirclement, but their attempt was thwarted by Ukrainian servicemen,' he said.
