Ukrainian security forces pulling in combat equipment to Lugansk – people's governor
10 May 2014, 20:55 -- Ukrainian hawks are pulling in military hardware to Lugansk on the eve of the referendum on the status of the Lugansk region, regional people's governor Valery Bolotov said at a briefing on Friday.
11 May is the date of referendums on the status of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. In the Lugansk Region the question put to the vote is 'Do you support the State Independence Act for the Lugansk People's Republic?'
Voting will be taking place between 8:00 a.m. (9:00 a.m. Moscow time) and 8:00 p.m. (9:00 p.m. Moscow time).
Bolotov said that he has information about 30 infantry combat vehicles and 10 armored personnel carriers approaching the city from the town of Starobelsk. Forces are being pulled in from all over, he said.
Bolotov also said that the Ukrainian government claims that these vehicles are moving in the direction of the Russian-Ukrainian border but their route testifies that they are meant to besiege Lugansk, RIA reports.
