Crimean gov't acts independently from Russia, seeks only legal advice - Crimean PM
14 March 2014, 19:04 -- The Crimean authorities coordinate their actions with Russian colleagues only in terms of their compliance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, Prime Minister of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov says.
'We have not received any instructions, requests of suggestions from anybody. We are working out our way independently, and we coordinate our actions with our colleagues from the Russian Federation in terms of how our proposals comply with the legislation of the Russian Federation. Nobody gives instructions to us; we do not depend on anybody in this regard,' S. Aksyonov said at a press conference on Friday.
He stressed that the Crimean authorities were ready to listen to good advice, but 'not to act under constraint .' According to him, the Crimean authorities have contacts with the Duma deputies. 'Nobody from the Moscow side is specially engaged in Crimea's integrating with Russia. Citizens of Crimea do it all by themselves,' S. Aksyonov said. He noted that the Crimean authorities had long been cooperating with ministries and departments of the Russian Federation, and these contacts had been established over years.'
