
ARC Government: three anti-aircraft missile regiments of Ukraine's Armed Forces join Crimean side
5 March 2014, 05:09 -- Three anti-aircraft missile regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine took side of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, reports the Crimean government. 'More than 700 soldiers and officers declared their readiness to defend the population of Crimea', forwards ITAR-TASS the statement of the representative of the Crimean autonomy.
According to him, soldiers of the 50th, 55th and 147th antiaircraft missile regiments stationed in Yalta, Feodosia and Fiolente moved to the side of the Crimean people. 'More than 20 anti-aircraft missile systems 'Buk' and more than 30 anti-aircraft missile system 'S-300 PS became part of the air defense units, sided with the government of the ARC', - said the official.
On Monday, March 3, the 204th Fighter of Air Force of Ukraine, armed with 49 combat aircrafts, switched the side over to the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The representative of the Crimean government said that we are talking about more than 800 personnel.
'There are 45 MiG-29 fighters and 4 training aircrafts L-39 at the airport of 'Belbek'. Out of these only four are intact along with one fighter training aircraft, ' said the official. Thus, according to him, 'the total number of members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, sided with the Crimean people is already close to the mark 6000 people'.
The former commander of the Ukrainian Navy who is currently the newly appointed commander of the Ukrainian Navy Rear Admiral Berezovsky gave an oath to the people of Crimea, told Sergey Aksenov, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (ARC).
The statement of the Crimean prime minister and the oath were made based on the results of the trilateral meeting with the participation of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia, Alexander Vitko, Denis Berezovsky and Sergei Aksenov. After the meeting, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Crimea Sergey Aksenov decreed the subjugation, as the Supreme Commander of the Republic of Crimea, of all the military formations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stationed in the Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. Earlier, several sources reported that coast guard ships were relocated to Odessa and Mariupol.
