Ukrainian gov't eager to intervene - Crimea Parliament
3 March 2014, 17:08
The Verkhovna Rada Autonomous Republic of Crimea stated this Monday that Kiev's government was eager to intervene in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. 'We are astonished by the statements of Ukrainian government that the Verkhovna Rada Autonomous Republic of Crimea has violated Ukrainian legislation by holding a local referendum to improve the status and authorities of the autonomy, and change the membership of the Verkhovna Rada Autonomous Republic of Crimea,' the statement says.
'We consider Ukrainian government's statements to be part of a plan, aimed at discrediting its autonomy and its authorities. The aim of the plan is to create the basis that will enable the Ukrainian government to intervene in Crimea and overthrow its government, which is legitimate, unlike the Ukrainian one,' Crimea's Parliament says.
The issue, discussed on the referendum didn't stipulate that the Autonomous Republic of Crimea would separate from Ukraine and join another country.
'At the same time, we stand for granting the Autonomous Republic of Crimea larger powers that should be guaranteed, if the central government or Ukrainian Constitution change,' the statements says.
