ZHUKOVSKY (Moscow Region), August 16 (RIA Novosti, Howard Gethin) - Ukraine’s Arsenal Design Bureau said on Tuesday that it had developed a world class sensitive infrared seeker for use on anti-ship missiles.

The company said its imaging infrared seeker is as good as anything developed in Europe.

“Put our seeker on your missile and then you’ve got a weapon,” Arsenal’s laser technology expert Oleksandr Klochko said on the sidelines of the six-day air show MAKS-2011 that opened on Tuesday near Moscow.

The company says its air-to-surface seekers are under development for export customers but it would not name them.

The firm has also developed an advanced seeker for Russia’s R-73 short-range air-to-air missile and R-26 medium-range missiles.

The firm said the new AA-10 seeker extends the detection range of the R-27 nuclear missile from 18 km to 30 km.
