Text: Clinton Eliminates U.S.-Ukraine Space Launch Quotas
(Kiev announcement opens way for more commercial joint ventures) (150) In Kiev June 5, President Clinton announced that commercial space launch quotas with Ukraine are being eliminated, opening the way for more commercial joint ventures. Following is the text of his statement: (begin text) THE WHITE HOUSE Office of the Press Secretary (Kiev, Ukraine) June 5, 2000 STATEMENT BY THE PRESIDENT I am pleased to announce that today the United States has terminated the commercial space launch trade agreement with Ukraine. This decision eliminates launch quotas and gives U.S. firms greater opportunity to enter into commercial space launch joint ventures with Ukrainian partners without limit and reflects Ukraine's steadfast commitment to international nonproliferation norms.
