Readout of Deputy Secretary of Defense Dr. Kathleen Hicks' Meeting With U.K. National Security Advisor Sir Stephen Lovegrove
Pentagon Spokesman Eric Pahon provided the following readout:
Deputy Secretary of Defense Dr. Kathleen Hicks met with U.K. National Security Advisor Sir Stephen Lovegrove to reaffirm the U.S.-U.K. bilateral relationship.
The two leaders exchanged views on defense and security priorities, including progress on U.S. strategic reviews, and the recently announced Australia-U.K.-U.S. trilateral security partnership (AUKUS) to ensure peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
Deputy Secretary Hicks conveyed thanks for U.K. assistance during the evacuation from Afghanistan last month and also highlighted U.S.-U.K. naval cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region exemplified by the ongoing Carrier Strike Group 21 deployment.
Lovegrove and Hicks expressed their commitment to deepening the U.S.-U.K. defense and security relationship.
