Presidency of The Republic of Turkey

22.02.2024

Addressing citizens in Denizli: "We can now produce with our own means nearly all of the weapons we need. What is more, we export them to friendly and brotherly countries. We achieved $5.5-billion in defense industry exports last year."

President and Justice and Development (AK) Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed citizens at the party's rally in Denizli.

"WE CONSTANTLY IMPROVE OURSELVES IN DEFENSE INDUSTRY"

Underscoring that one of the most important pillars of the Century of Türkiye vision is to elevate Türkiye to world's premier league in defense industry and technology, President Erdoğan said: "Despite many obstacles and overt/covert embargoes we face, we constantly improve ourselves in this area. We officially put into service tens of aerial, ground and navy projects in the past year alone."

Stating that they have increased the domestic production rate, which was around 20 per cent when they took office, to some 80 per cent, President Erdoğan noted that they put an end to the importation of most of the weapons Türkiye had been using in its fight against terror, and added: "We can now produce with our own means nearly all of the weapons we need. What is more, we export them to friendly and brotherly countries. We achieved $5.5-billion in defense industry exports last year."

KAAN, TÜRKİYE'S NATIONAL COMBAT AIRCRAFT

Noting that Türkiye is one of the ten countries in the world that produce its own warship, President Erdoğan added that they not only design and produce the vessels themselves but also improve many technologies, from weapon systems to radars.

Also drawing attention to Türkiye's national combat aircraft KAAN, President Erdoğan said that the aircraft has successfully performed its first flight, and went on to say: "KAAN, which is the product of a 15-year-long work, effort and determination, left behind yet another critical threshold with the test flight yesterday. We plan to deliver KAAN to the Turkish Air Force by the end of 2028."

Pointing to the humanitarian aid sent to Gaza, President Erdoğan said yet another ship, which was carrying 21 ambulances and 2,380-ton aid supply, has arrived at the Al Arish Port of Egypt, and that Türkiye looks after the oppressed with the humanitarian aid it provides.
