Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's telephone conversation with Republic of Türkiye Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan

On July 9, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Türkiye Hakan Fidan, on the initiative of the Turkish side.
The sides exchanged opinions on the regional agenda and prioritised the latest developments around Ukraine, including the situation regarding the return of Azov battalion "ringleaders" from Istanbul to Kiev. The Russian side drew the attention of Ankara to the fact that continued deliveries of military equipment to the Kiev regime amounted to a destructive course. It was noted that subsequent steps could only bring about negative consequences.
The ministers reaffirmed the need to retain and strengthen trustful relations between Moscow and Ankara, in line with the agreements in principle between presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
They also touched upon prospects for future collaboration on issues of facilitating global food security at a time when Western states are failing to take action to implement the well-known package deal of the UN Secretary-General.
They discussed certain aspects of Russia-Türkiye bilateral cooperation, including the schedule of upcoming contacts.
