Taiwan media reported that a US defense start-up founder Palmer Luckey recently claimed that the Chinese mainland might be "going to move on Taiwan" in 2027, and that Taiwan should be turned into "a very prickly porcupine." Asked to comment on such claims on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office said that Taiwan is China's Taiwan, and China will never allow the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities to collude with external forces and turn the island into a "hell."

Zhu urged the US side to abide by the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiqués, and stop fanning the flames in the Taiwan Straits.

Stressing that the Taiwan question is purely an internal affair of China, which brooks no external interference, Zhu further pointed out that such claims once again exposed how some in the US, driven by political and economic interests, are willing to use Taiwan as a pawn - even at the cost of destroying the island.

"If they are allowed free rein, they will only push Taiwan toward the brink of war and turn Taiwan compatriots into cannon fodder," the spokesperson said.
