Commenting on a recent report by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities in Taiwan, which claimed that the Chinese mainland remains the region's "primary external threat," a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office on Wednesday stated that such false narratives of so-called "mainland threat" completely distort the truth.

The report also claimed that the Taiwan regional authorities pledged to safeguard the so-called "democratic values" through comprehensive external exchanges to enhance ties with partners while creating "added value" for the world via economic and technological cooperation.

In response, Zhu Fenglian, the spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, stated that there is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. The DPP authorities' persistent pursuit of a separatist "Taiwan independence" stance and continuous collusion with external forces to engage in provocative moves for "independence" are the root cause of the current tensions and instability in the Taiwan Straits.

Zhu pointed out that under the guise of "democracy," "economic exchange," and "technology," the DPP authorities are in fact relying on external support to seek "independence." Their false narratives of so-called "mainland threat" and "democracy vs. authoritarianism" completely distort the truth and are aimed at causing confusion, she said.

"We sternly warn the DPP authorities that no matter how many petty moves they make, they will never change the inevitable failure of their separatist agenda, nor will they halt the historical trend toward the ultimate and inevitable reunification of the motherland," the spokesperson said.
