When asked to comment on US President Donald Trump's remarks on the Taiwan question on Monday, and indicated that he remained confident in his relationship with Chinese leader and said he will visit China early next year, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said China's position on the Taiwan question has been consistent and clear: Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and the Taiwan question is purely China's internal affair.
How to resolve the Taiwan question is a matter for the Chinese people themselves, Guo said, noting that we will continue to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification with the utmost sincerity and effort, but we will never allow anyone or any force, in any form, to separate the island of Taiwan from China.
Guo emphasized that head-of-state diplomacy plays an irreplaceable strategic guiding role in China-US relations, adding that the two heads of state maintain close communication and exchanges.
As for the specific question the reporter mentioned, the spokesperson said he has no information to provide at this time.
